Marching On!!!!

23 10 2008

Salvete,

Well no one has said anything for a while so I thought I should.

Firstly I would like to say how happy we are that Mr Simon Scarrow has decided to be our Praetor! It is an honour and we all look forward to meeting him!!!

I have been able to attend more events recently and I have to say that I am so proud to be part of this Legion and it will always have a firm place in my heart.

A small group of us went out to Huntington the other week and thought some of your Celtic children how to march like a disciplined Roman Legionary and although they found it a lot harder than they thought it would be I really think they enjoyed it!!! The parents of these Celtic young obviously took great pleasure from watching their children be shouted at and kept in line by a few tough legionaries. I thought you would have learnt by now that the only way is the Roman way but obviously not!

It has been a while since the whole Legion met up, but I’m sure we will all be attending the Festival of our Ancestors after the Gladiator Funeral next month. I am looking forward to being re-united with all of my Brothers.

The next campaign for us is York this weekend when we will be supporting the Roman York Festival. I am really looking forward to this event as it is always good. Also we should be meeting some lads from some other Legions from across Britannia. It will be good to find out what is going on back in Rome, you know how it is.

Anyway, I need to get back to polishing my equipment so I shall see you soon.

Strength and Honour

Back with the Legion

9 09 2008

It’s been a long, long time since Rome now and A LOT has happened since I have been back.

Unfortunately I have not been able to partake in many Deva Victrix events this year due to work commitments. This led to me feeling slightly disjointed with the Legion. It was the wrong way to feel!

After joining up with the lads again for both Manchester and the British Museum I have realised how proud I am of the 20th Legion and how much I am a part of it! It has made me realise that we are a unique, highly professional and impressive group. Although we are still not getting the full credit we deserve I think that as Marcus has previously said we are raising the profile of the 20th Legion and Deva!!!

I am once again rearing to go, get back in the Seg and fight to promote our unique Roman heritage. Who knows what next year will bring us and Deva if the Gods look favourably on us.

Strength and Honour!

ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME

19 04 2008

Well it has been a grand total of 3 days now and we are in Italy and well on our way to Roma. It has been a very long journey and hard work yesterday marching arond Lorrach, but so far it has been one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life! I have never been to Germany before and to be honest I never thought I would! I was totaly wrong in my assumptions of the Germans, they are some of the most respectfull and friendly people I ever met! They really pushed the boat out for us and in one solitary day, they did more for us than we have ever received to date. Thank you lorrach.
The Alps were amazing to see and it makes you wonder how Hannibal ever had the courage to attempt to cross them! I cannot wait to arrive in Roma with the Legion! This is really a dream come true for me! This trip has made me realise that honour is not dead in the world, So. Let’s bring it back with us lads! Giaus Titinius Felix

ALMOST THERE!!!!

14 04 2008

Well 2 days to go and Chester’s 20th Legion will be leaving for Rome!!!

I can’t believe we are almost there and I would like to thank everyone who has helped make this happen, especially our Centurio Paul! He has worked unbelievably hard against impossible odds and obstructions from some of the usual idiots in Chester who do not realise or respect their heritage! Thank you Paul!!!

We all know that Paul isn’t the only one who has worked his socks off for this trip, to all members of Deva Victrix and all the companies and public who have sponsored us, donated for the cause and supported us I thank you. I shall make an offering to the gods for your good health when we arrive in Rome!

There is only 2 days left and we still do not have what we need to fund this trip! To all who have not even gave us a second thought I say this, imagine what Chester would be like without her Romans. You may laugh at us as we pass you in the street or make a quip but we are honering YOUR city, YOUR ancestors, YOUR heritage! We are unique because we are YOUR romans! Please support us as we support you!!!

Well, now thats over I will carry on polishing my equipment after the rain on Sunday.

Thank you again, you know who you are.
